How We Got Here

We are DankShirts, and we make fun shirt designs inspired by internet pop culture.

DankShirtsStore was created for fun, as a hobby, after creating 'funny' video-game and pop culture inspired shirts for ourselves. We noticed that there were too many boomer-made meme shirts that were unintentionally cringe. As a result we wanted to make clothes that were actually funny and inspired by memes and internet-culture, that people would ironically wear and would make a funny gift. We decided to upload our designs to Etsy as an outlet to share our memes.

After thinking up the name 'DankShirts', the store launched in June 2017, with no expectation of success. A few weeks after the launch, interest had started to be shown in our designs. Over time we started to make sales and realised that there was a genuine interest in more relatable meme apparel and not just embarrassing ‘Facebook Minions’ designs. When we got our first 5 star review it was incredibly exciting! DankShirts has since become more of a serious project than a hobby.

DankShirts has genuinely risen above and beyond what we could have ever predicted and we are forever grateful for the support that we have received. This has been one of the most enjoyable projects we have ever undertaken and we are excited to continue to create more designs into the future!

At DankShirts, we take our responsibility to sustainable practices seriously.

• At Dankshirts we are committed to ethical manufacturing processes and the preservation of the environment.

• That is why we source organic fair trade cotton and print using PETA approved vegan-friendly inks. These are non-toxic to the environment and have no animal testing in any part of the manufacturing process.

• We use industry grade DTG Kornit printers to ensure our clothing is of high quality and long lasting.

• To further our commitment, we have a zero waste policy, this means that none of the materials used in production go to landfill.
